Insights into the art world beyond the classroom

Our visual arts program encourages individual creative growth and expression through the joy of art. Students in primary and secondary schools work with critically acclaimed practising artists, who engage and mentor students by sharing their experience and providing insights into the art world beyond the classroom.

Visual Arts programs on offer

For Primary schools a Teaching Artist in Residence works regularly with school communities to develop art works inspired by local cultures and curriculum topic areas. Powerpoint presentations of student works created through the Teaching Artist in Residence Program will be displayed at the Showcase performances.

Secondary students work with acclaimed Teaching Artists who provide professional advice to students working on their HSC visual arts major works. Each class is brought to life by having a living, breathing art resource who critiques major works and shares their experience as professional artists, linking students with industry contacts – something students would otherwise not have access too.

Schools interested in having a Teaching Artist in Residence should contact CAPTIVATE.

Schools are invited to submit outstanding major works from their cohort for display across the Showcase performances.
