School-Based Activities

This program runs in stage groups and is designed to increase literacy skills through the medium of drama. Run on a weekly basis in class groups in schools, CAPTIVATE tutors work alongside the classroom teacher in capacity building and developing skills in communication. In addition to literacy and communication skills, students will develop performance, play-building and role playing skills, self-devising short drama works which will be featured at the Drama Showcase at the end of Term 2.

Schools interested in the Drama Literacy program should contact the CAPTIVATE team.

This intensive drama course runs for 1.5 hours each week and is available to students in Years 7-10. This is a performance based course which aims to extend each student’s technical skills and understanding of dramatic style whilst providing them with performance opportunities. Skills related to the wider creative arts industry are also taught.

This program is a week-long event in Term 4 for Music, Dance and Drama students. It is by invitation only to students who have shown exceptional talent throughout the year in other CAPTIVATE programs.

Selected students engage in a performance intensive, collaborative learning opportunity where leading performing arts mentors and industry professionals pass on their expertise, skills and knowledge to students in focused ensemble groups. The learning is about developing their craft for a public performance.

The program is also an excellent team building exercise and opportunity to work together for a more extended time rather periodically throughout the year.

Schools that haven’t taken part in CAPTIVATE programs can still nominate students to audition by contacting CAPTIVATE.

We provide intensive performance support for HSC students as part of the Masterclass Program. In addition, as some schools are unable to run HSC Drama, CAPTIVATE has some solutions to this by merging schools to enable them to run this course offline.

Please contact CAPTIVATE to discuss further.

CAPTIVATE Theatre Club is an opportunity for students involved in other CAPTIVATE Drama activites to experience live theatre. Further information will be handed out in Hub and Ensemble classes when available.
